Breath-taking rock formations and the best roads in this part of the US. This 280 mile route takes in some of the best roads in the southwest United States and offers a great variety in terms of road types all set to a spectacular Utah Mountain backdrop. We start at Cedar City and head east crossing the Dixie National forest on State Highway 14 which tightly twists its way past Blowhard Mountain, Gooseberry point and Lake Navajo before joining US89 North to Hatch. From there we get on the on State Highway 12 ‘The Escalante Staircase’, arguably the best motorcycle road in the southwest USA and head east. This a great and diverse stretch that includes sections of densely forested hills, desert and mountains. Towards Torrey it is simply breathtaking, and if you don’t mind a little bit of bad roads, you can turn right at Boulder and tackle as much of the famous Burr trail as you feel comfortable (mostly paved road but a short section the joins the west side to the east, in the middle is light gravel) From Torrey, head east towards Hanksville and this route passes through Capitol Reef, and the scenery is absolutely amazing.
Yet another lovely Utah mountain road, you are really are spoilt for choice around here.
Join up US89 and I15 the fun way :)
Nice curvy quiet mountain road popular for camping
A really nice scenic run up to the ski area.
One of many nicely scenic and curvy roads in this area.
the distance is great and gives riders a full day of twisties, Vistas, and not much traffic for most of the run. this route strings together several of northern Utah's best rides into one marathon adventure. east Canyon, trappers loop, monte Cristo, mirror Lake, and guardsman pass.
Day 2
An absolutely gorgeous part of Zion Park, probably less visited than the main valley but gorgeous. This is a short out-and-back route, but worth posting because the scenery is simply epic. If you can't make it into Zion while traveling on Interstate 15, at least take this quick offshoot. You won't regret it.
Starts in Spanish Fork Canyon. Goes past Strawberry reservoir into Hebert. connects to Provo canyon and ends in Orem. Mostly good scenery but connects to some busy highways.
Excellent, short canyon route around Mt. Timpanogos connecting the Alpine Loop canyon to East Provo Canyon road. Lots of twisties with amazing scenery.
This is a longer ride, 4-5 hours with nice twisty canyons and straight-shot highways in a loop through Box Elder, Cache, and Weber counties. Traffic can be a bit congested as the canyons have fewer passing areas than desired but plenty of fuel stops and beautiful northern Utah scenery (especially Logan Canyon into Bear Lake).
From the fork of the 276 south to the Natural Bridges Monument this road contains a mix of all the best things that a bike could want. Many consecutive great curves on a good surface, beautiful scenery and it goes on for miles. Really Excellent
Very steep with lots of turns, there is a small unpaved section but nothing serious. Excellent run not far from Salt Lake City.
Narrow, frenzied corners and spectacular scenery make this one of the best roads in the area. Normally toll but if you're not staying you probably won't be expected to pay.
Great scenery, selection of sweeping curves and little traffic make this a very nice stretch
Lots of interesting historical sights as this area is filled with mining history. Can be some mining trucks, otherwise fun.
Great views of pasture and gorges with lots of nice curves to keep you interested
Beautiful mix of great scenery, nice places to stop, good surface and corners. A very nice road for holiday biking!
Quiet with nice scenery and good curves make this a nice ride and a peaceful getaway
With striking red colors, this road is popular with visitors and can be quite busy at times, but is nonetheless a great biking routes.
Road closed in the winter. Great ride in summer and fall.
great and diverse ride, this route really has it all-dense forested hills, desert, mountains. a few great overlooks and plenty of photo ops. plan time to stop at some of the national parks at either end.
Short section of feisty road through one mtn pass then mellows out and meanders by east canyon reservoir into farm land and finishes off with 30 mins of hwy.
